Parent University: Foundations for a Biblical Worldview

Beginning with the launch of re-enrollment for the 2024/2025 school year, Northwest Christian School is "requiring" parents to participate in an online Biblical Worldview foundations course.  Having partnered with the Colson Center for Christian Worldview, Summit Ministries, and Christian Family Care, the course content presents an exciting three-fold advantage to re-enrolling families.

First, families will have the opportunity to see and experience the wonderful, Biblical truths that are being presented to their children.

Second, participation within the course will allow school and home to strengthen and reinforce their vital partnership.

Third, when that vital partnership is sincere and legitimately in play, it produces a profound impact in both the school and home.

Please take a moment to review the introductory video above to learn more about the advantages that your family will experience!

In order to retain the $150/student registration fee credit, this course needs to be completed by August 1st, 2024.

Upon completion of the Parent University Worldview course, you gain access to the Family Care Learning library of courses free of charge!

As part of the Northwest Christian School community, you enjoy access to NCS Parent University which includes both online and on-the-ground access to critical parenting support resources, courses, and presentations.  As an example, please investigate the wonderful support links below.

Today, CFC has grown to become much more than an adoption and foster care agency. Their influence and services have expanded to fulfill their vision of seeing every child loved and nurtured in a Christ-centered family.  These services include access to the Family Care Learning Library–an unbelievably diverse collection of online courses that will have an immediate impact within Northwest Christian homes and families.
  • Colson Educators Videos

Enjoy five additional videos filmed for the Parent University course with Colson Educators:

    1. Colson Fellows Susan Leonard and Nathan Johnson help us to understand that the three paths that truth has taken throughout human history--science, religion, and philosophy--lead to good and healthy places when we "rightly divide the word of truth". And, they emphasize that along those roads, we are best served when we allow both grace and truth to guide us.

    2. Given that we are living in a time when the culturally prevailing secular worldviews are so frequently in conflict with Biblical worldview, it is not unexpected that, even at young ages, our children are asking questions that we, as parents and educators, might find alarming. But, should we be alarmed? How do we handle these questions?

    3. Recent research from George Barna and the ACU Cultural Research Center indicates that, even within the church, the prevailing worldview is syncretism. Syncretism is the idea that we can adopt a worldview that is effectively an amalgamation of what we each, individually and separately, find most appealing in different religions and philosophies. This gives rise to the thinking that we each have our "own truth". But, when this happens, what are the inherent dangers?

    4. The battle of ideas is not new. Rather, it has persisted throughout history. In the early church, the tool of "catechism" was used to safeguard the church from heretical and dangerous ideas. How can we use catechism, or Christian education, to similarly safeguard our children and homes?

    5. How does worldview form? How can I know if my worldview is Biblical? These are critical questions that we must tackle if we desire to see our homes safeguarded from the harms of the world. In this video, we learn about two wonderful, free resources that we highly recommend for Northwest Christian families, each from Summit Ministries (summit.org): (1) the individual worldview checkup (https://www.summit.org/individual-worldview-checkup/) and (2) the survey of worldviews chart (https://www.summit.org/resources/worldview-chart/).
  • Kingdom Culture Conversations - A Northwest Christian School Podcast

Kingdom Culture Conversations grew out of the sorts of cultural questions that grew out of Northwest Christian School’s own classrooms.  As students asked questions, we listened closely and brought in the experts to answer those questions and equip our students, and their families with transformational truth.
